Hearts have been linked with a move for Víkingur Gøta winger Aron Benjaminsen.
Faroese journalist Tróndur Arge reports that he has been told the 2007-born winger could be on his way to Scottish football with Hearts after attracting significant interest.
Arge adds that a move now would mean Benjaminsen missing Víkingur’s Faroese Cup final on September 5.
It is not the first foreign interest in Benjaminsen this year. In May, Víkingur chairman Brandur Jacobsen confirmed that there was interest in the winger after the club received an offer from abroad. Kringvarp Føroya reported that the bid was believed to have come from Serbian top-flight side FK Čukarički, although the proposed move did not progress.
Benjaminsen returned to the Faroe Islands from Kristiansund in March and has since emerged as one of the standout young players in the Meistaradeildin.
SkyrScout published a full scouting report on Benjaminsen on August 22, highlighting his explosive acceleration, close control, relentless one-on-one dribbling and outstanding left foot. At the time of the report, he had produced 8 goals and 8 assists in 19 league matches for Víkingur, while also scoring in both UEFA Conference League qualifiers against Stjarnan.
Our transfer outlook noted that his performances domestically and in Europe were likely to have attracted attention already, and that we would not be surprised to see a club move for him this summer.
The reported Hearts interest may now be the first sign of exactly that.
No agreement or completed transfer has been announced by Hearts or Víkingur at the time of writing.
