Eduards Dašķevičs has scored his first senior international goal for Latvia, finding the net in Monday’s UEFA Nations League match away to Cyprus.
The 24-year-old started for Latvia and broke the deadlock in the 57th minute with a superb individual effort.
Vladislavs Gutkovskis found Dašķevičs on the left before the winger carried the ball across the pitch and into the penalty area, worked it through the legs of a defender and curled a left-footed finish into the far top corner.
It was Dašķevičs’ first goal for the Latvia senior national team and gave his side a 1-0 lead in a competitive international.
Latvia were unable to hold on. Ioannis Kosti equalised in the 70th minute before Marcus Edwards struck in the fourth minute of stoppage time to give Cyprus a 2-1 victory.
The result was painful for Latvia, but the night still brought a personal landmark for Dašķevičs.
SkyrScout has followed the FK Auda attacker closely, with his pace, direct carrying and ability to create from wide areas featuring prominently in our scouting coverage.
Now he can add a senior international goal to the list, and a rather memorable one at that.
