Amin Chiakha is officially a Rosenborg player on a permanent basis.
Both Rosenborg and F.C. Copenhagen confirmed the transfer on August 19, with RBK exercising the purchase option included in the loan agreement that brought the striker to Trondheim in January.
Chiakha has agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Rosenborg.
The 20-year-old says the move feels right after a period of rapid development at Lerkendal, while also highlighting the support he has received from the club’s fans as an important factor in his decision to stay.
A record-breaking investment
Neither Rosenborg nor F.C. Copenhagen disclosed the transfer fee in their official announcements.
Tipsbladet has reported that the purchase option was set at €5 million, describing the deal as the biggest player purchase in Norwegian football history.
The Danish outlet had also reported ahead of the confirmation that Chiakha would sign a contract running until the end of 2030, which corresponds with the four-and-a-half-year agreement now confirmed by Rosenborg.
From loan signing to key player
Chiakha initially joined Rosenborg on loan from FCK in January.
According to Rosenborg’s official statistics, he has scored 10 goals in 18 competitive appearances for the club, including nine goals in 17 Eliteserien matches.
His form has accelerated dramatically during the summer. Rosenborg say Chiakha has scored in every league match since the World Cup break, with seven goals across his last six league appearances.
Most recently, he scored the stoppage-time winner as Rosenborg defeated reigning champions Viking 2-1 at Lerkendal.
The performances led to growing calls from supporters and Norwegian football observers for Rosenborg to activate the purchase option. Some supporters even launched a fundraising campaign intended to contribute towards a permanent transfer.
Chiakha says the financial contribution itself was not the decisive factor, but that the campaign demonstrated how strongly the supporters wanted him to remain at the club.
A clear choice of Rosenborg
The permanent transfer also provides a significant follow-up to reports earlier this week about Chiakha’s future.
On August 16, SkyrScout reported that Chiakha’s father and representative, Nabil Chiakha, had told Maghreb-Foot that the striker had rejected a formal offer from an unnamed Champions League club, as well as other approaches, because he wanted to stay at Rosenborg.
F.C. Copenhagen’s announcement adds further context to that decision.
Chiakha says it had been his ambition to return to Copenhagen and score goals at Parken, but that he feels very comfortable in Trondheim and at Lerkendal, and now sees Rosenborg as the right place to take the next step in his career.
FCK sporting leadership also acknowledges that Chiakha has settled well at Rosenborg and embraced the responsibility of being the club’s primary striker.
Three days after the reports about his desire to stay, that future is now settled.
Amin Chiakha is a Rosenborg player permanently.
