Amin Chiakha has reportedly rejected a formal offer from an unnamed European club competing in the Champions League this season because he wants to remain at Rosenborg.
Maghreb-Foot says it spoke directly with Chiakha’s father and representative, Nabil Chiakha, about the striker’s future.
According to Nabil, Amin has a clear long-term ambition to play in England or Germany. He recently received a formal offer from what his father described as a respected European club participating in this season’s Champions League.
Chiakha reportedly considered the proposal carefully before informing his representatives and club management that he had decided to reject it.
His father says this was not the only offer Chiakha has turned down. The reason for rejecting this and other approaches is his desire to remain at Rosenborg, where he has settled well and feels highly valued.
A clear preference for Rosenborg
The comments are significant given Chiakha’s rapid development at Lerkendal.
According to Rosenborg’s official statistics, the 20-year-old has scored 10 goals in 18 competitive appearances for the club. Nine of those goals have come in 17 Eliteserien matches, where he has also recorded two assists, while his other goal came in the Norwegian Cup.
His performances have naturally increased attention from elsewhere in Europe, but his father’s comments suggest that Chiakha is in no hurry to leave Trondheim.
Despite his long-term ambition of eventually playing in England or Germany, his current preference is reportedly to continue at Rosenborg.
€5 million purchase option
Rosenborg have an agreed €5 million purchase option for Chiakha.
Activating that option would make him the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
That makes the player’s own position particularly important. Concrete interest from a Champions League club and other approaches have not changed his current preference, according to his father and representative.
For Rosenborg, the message from the Chiakha camp appears clear: despite opportunities elsewhere, Amin wants to stay at Lerkendal.
