Västerås SK have confirmed the sale of Mikkel Ladefoged in what the club describes as the biggest transfer in its history, with the Danish striker set to join Lincoln City.
Aftonbladet reports that all parties have reached an agreement and that the Championship club will pay around SEK 55 million including bonuses. Västerås are also reportedly entitled to a sell-on clause of around 10-20 percent.
The transfer will take effect on August 30. VSK have confirmed that Ladefoged will not play any further matches for the club before his departure.
The agreement brings an eventful transfer saga towards its conclusion. Lincoln City were first reported to be closing in on Ladefoged earlier in August, when a deal worth just over SEK 50 million was under discussion.
The situation subsequently became more complicated, with Fotbollskanalen reporting that Ladefoged was refusing to train in an attempt to secure a move abroad. He was also left out of Västerås’ squad for their latest match against Djurgården.
VSK sporting director Billy Magnusson has now described the negotiations with the buying club as long and drawn out, but respectful and constructive, while stressing that Västerås are very satisfied with the agreement from a financial perspective.
Ladefoged leaves after playing a major role in VSK’s rise. He scored ten goals as the club earned promotion from the Superettan last season and has followed that with nine goals and two assists in 14 Allsvenskan appearances in 2026.
For the 23-year-old, the move represents a significant next step, taking him from Swedish football to the English Championship.
