Standing 172 cm tall, Narek Hovhannisyan may not dominate physically, but he displays many traits associated with high-level wide attackers. Operating primarily from the left flank, he profiles as a modern wide playmaker rather than a traditional touchline winger.

Technically sound with sharp close control, Hovhannisyan is a very strong dribbler and highly effective ball carrier. He advances play with confidence and regularly drives at defenders in 1v1 situations. Creative and composed in possession, he combines good vision with an ability to unlock defensive lines.

He possesses very good pace and makes intelligent, well-timed runs in behind the defence. Despite his age, he shows leadership qualities on the pitch and carries responsibility in key moments. His penalty record this season stands at 3 from 3, reflecting composure under pressure. From set pieces, his right foot is reliable both for direct free kicks and deliveries into the box, and his corners are generally of good quality. Though primarily right-footed, his left foot is dependable, particularly for crosses, and adds an extra layer of unpredictability to his attacking play, while still posing a credible shooting threat.

His mentality is evident in decisive moments, notably scoring twice against league leaders FC Ararat-Armenia, including a stoppage-time penalty to secure a 2–2 draw.

Defensively, Hovhannisyan contributes actively. He is strong in ground duels, effective in high pressing phases, and frequently regains possession through anticipation and interceptions.

Areas for improvement

Passing accuracy can improve, largely linked to decision-making in the final third. He can refine his choices regarding when to shoot, when to pass, and when to vary set-piece options. With greater composure and efficiency in these situations, his output could increase further.

Career trajectory and current form

Hovhannisyan developed through the FC Avan Academy, now known as FC Ararat-Armenia, one of Armenia’s most successful clubs in recent years. In 2022 he moved to BKMA Yerevan and made his Armenian Premier League debut during the 2023/24 season.

Long regarded as one of Armenia’s top youth prospects, he has taken a significant step forward this season, delivering 6 goals and 1 assist in 14 matches while maintaining a consistently high performance level.

Transfer outlook

Interest from foreign clubs has already emerged, and he was reportedly close to a move to Slovakia in the summer of 2025. That interest is unlikely to diminish given his current form. A summer 2026 transfer appears realistic. The optimal pathway would likely be a top-15 to top-20 European league where he can secure regular minutes, continue developing, and move closer to what appears to be a high long-term ceiling.
