Bo Hegland appears to have added another rather notable name to the list of clubs keeping an eye on him.
TransferFeed reports that FC Barcelona had scouts at 3Arena on Monday to watch the Norwegian attacking midfielder in Djurgården’s Allsvenskan meeting with GAIS.
If they came specifically to see Hegland, he did not exactly make himself difficult to notice.
The 22-year-old scored and assisted as Djurgården won 2-0, taking his league tally to eight goals and 15 assists in 21 appearances this season.
That 15th assist also saw him equal the Allsvenskan record for assists in a season.
Barcelona watching, but no transfer claim yet
At this stage, the report is about scouting rather than a transfer move.
There is no indication that Barcelona have made an offer or opened negotiations with Djurgården. A club having scouts in attendance is not the same thing as deciding to sign a player.
It is, however, another significant marker of how quickly Hegland’s profile has risen during 2026.
Newcastle United were previously reported to have watched him live against Mjällby, while Anderlecht showed concrete interest during the summer window. Reports this week said Hegland turned down a move to the Belgian club, with the player himself later explaining that his focus throughout the summer had been on staying at Djurgården.
French interest has also been reported, while Atlético Madrid and Aston Villa have now also been linked with Hegland in recent reports.
A useful night to have visitors
Monday’s performance could hardly have been better timed.
Djurgården described the 2-0 win over GAIS as a night of “Norwegian brilliance”, with both Hegland and Kristian Lien contributing a goal and an assist.
Hegland first supplied Lien for the opener before scoring the second himself.
So, if Barcelona’s representatives wanted a live look at his ability to create and finish, they received a reasonably efficient demonstration of both.
From Moss to this
SkyrScout profiled Hegland at Moss in June 2025, shortly before his move to Djurgården.
The video profile highlighted a powerful and intelligent attacking midfielder with excellent technical quality, strong ball carrying, creativity and an unusually broad range of finishing techniques.
At that point, the reference point was the Norwegian second tier.
Fifteen months later, Hegland is producing record-level assist numbers in Sweden, has already attracted concrete interest from established European clubs, and is now reportedly being watched by Barcelona.
That does not mean the next stop is Camp Nou.
But as career progressions go, it is not a particularly boring one.
