German Barkovskiy has completed a permanent move to Czech top-flight club FC Hradec Králové, continuing a steady climb since leaving Belarus at the start of 2025.
Hradec confirmed the arrival of the 24-year-old Belarus international from Puszcza Niepołomice on August 19.
The 191 cm centre-forward joins a Hradec side currently competing both in the Czech Chance Liga and European qualification. Barkovskiy travelled directly with his new teammates to Greece ahead of their UEFA Conference League play-off against Panathinaikos.
Hradec sporting director Petr Pojezný describes Barkovskiy as the type of striker the club had been looking for: tall and physically strong, but also technically capable. The club believes he can contribute immediately while continuing his development in the Czech Republic.
From Belarus to the Polish Ekstraklasa
The move represents the latest step in a career that has developed considerably since SkyrScout profiled Barkovskiy at Dynamo Brest in December 2024.
After an outstanding 2024 season in Belarus, Barkovskiy moved permanently to Puszcza Niepołomice in January 2025 and immediately stepped into the Polish Ekstraklasa.
His first months in Poland produced four goals and three assists from 17 appearances across the Ekstraklasa and Polish Cup.
Among those contributions was his first Ekstraklasa goal against Raków Częstochowa in April, while he also scored against Polonia Warszawa as Puszcza reached the Polish Cup semi-finals for the first time in the club’s history.
Puszcza were ultimately relegated at the end of the 2024/25 season, but Barkovskiy remained at Poland’s highest level.
A full season with Piast Gliwice
In July 2025, Puszcza loaned Barkovskiy to Piast Gliwice for the entire 2025/26 season, with Piast holding an option to make the transfer permanent.
He became a regular part of the Piast side, making 31 Ekstraklasa appearances and scoring four goals during the campaign.
Goal.pl reported towards the end of the season that Piast’s purchase option was worth slightly more than €400,000. The club ultimately did not make the move permanent, and Barkovskiy returned to Puszcza following the expiration of his loan.
Across his time with Puszcza and Piast, Hradec credit Barkovskiy with seven goals and four assists across two seasons in the Polish Ekstraklasa.
That period gave him substantial experience at a considerably higher competitive level than when SkyrScout first featured him in Belarus.
Another step forward in the Czech Republic
Barkovskiy now leaves Poland for the Czech Chance Liga.
Transfermarkt lists the permanent transfer to Hradec Králové at approximately €400,000, with Barkovskiy under contract until June 2028 and a mutual option for an additional year.
He also arrives with significantly more international experience than when SkyrScout first profiled him. Hradec list Barkovskiy at 15 senior appearances and two goals for Belarus.
The timing of the move is particularly interesting. Rather than joining a club simply preparing for domestic football, Barkovskiy has immediately travelled with Hradec for their Conference League play-off against Panathinaikos.
It continues a clear progression since December 2024: from a standout season in Belarus, through two different clubs and extensive top-flight experience in Poland, and now into the Czech top division with a club currently competing for a place in the Conference League league phase.
