Sociedad Deportiva Aucas have officially signed Argentine centre-forward Rafael Monti, bringing the 26-year-old back to Ecuador after a short and difficult spell with Brazilian Série A side Remo.
The move comes just two days after Remo confirmed that Monti’s loan from Vinotinto FC had been terminated. He joined the Brazilian club in January after an excellent 2025 season in Ecuador, when he scored 18 goals in 35 league appearances for Vinotinto.
Monti struggled to establish himself in Brazil. He made only seven appearances for Remo across all competitions, four in the Campeonato Paraense, two in the Copa Norte and just one in the Brasileirão. He failed to score but provided two assists.
His final appearance came at the end of April. Monti subsequently remained outside the matchday squad and was unable to force his way back into the plans at Remo before the parties agreed to end the loan.
It represents a sharp contrast with his previous spell in Ecuador, where Monti had developed into one of LigaPro’s most productive strikers. His 18 goals for Vinotinto in 2025 had been the key factor behind Remo bringing him to Brazil in the first place.
Aucas now offer Monti an opportunity to return to a league where his qualities and goalscoring have already translated successfully. The club have brought him in for the decisive part of the 2026 LigaPro season under head coach Norberto Araujo.
No contract length or transfer fee was disclosed when Aucas presented the striker.
