Tiago Coimbra • 21-year-old Canadian-Brazilian centre-forward

A powerful striker with a strong physical presence and traditional No. 9 instincts. Standing 188 cm tall, Coimbra combines strength and aerial ability with good mobility and pace for his size.

His movement inside the penalty area is intelligent and purposeful. He regularly finds space close to goal, anticipates deliveries well and shows the natural finishing instincts required of a central striker. His athleticism also allows him to produce spectacular finishes, including overhead kicks.

Predominantly right-footed, Coimbra nevertheless shows strong ability with his left. He finishes several chances with his weaker foot and also uses it creatively in combination play, including a clever flick that creates an assist.

Career trajectory and current form

Born in Brazil, Coimbra has a background in the academies of Flamengo and Palmeiras. He later committed internationally to Canada and has represented the country at U20 level.

HFX Wanderers brought him to the Canadian Premier League ahead of the 2023 season. After initially requiring time to establish himself, the 2025 campaign is beginning to reveal the full extent of his potential.

Before the start of the season, Coimbra spent time training with West Ham United’s U21 side. He also received the opportunity to train with the first team during his stay, underlining the level of interest in his physical and technical profile.

Transfer outlook

Coimbra looks ready to attract serious interest beyond the Canadian Premier League. HFX Wanderers originally signed him through the end of 2023 with club options covering two additional seasons, giving the club leverage over his immediate future.

His combination of size, mobility, box movement and natural finishing should translate well to European football. The Norwegian Eliteserien would be a logical next step, although his potential could take him directly to a top-10 European league.
