A dynamic, strong and elegant wide player, Saifullah primarily operates from the left flank. Standing 179 cm tall, he combines explosive acceleration with top-end speed, allowing him to attack defenders aggressively while maintaining close control at high tempo. His dribbling is a standout feature. Quick feet, sharp changes of direction, and an ability to carry the ball over distance make him a constant 1v1 threat.

More of a wide playmaker than a traditional touchline winger, Saifullah often favours cutbacks rather than early crosses, though he is capable of delivering quality balls into the box with his left foot. His right foot is a major weapon: he strikes the ball with real power from distance and provides excellent set-piece delivery. He is a consistent threat on direct free kicks and highly effective with inswinging corners, producing goals and assists through precision and force.

Technically polished, he plays with vision and intelligence, offering a strong passing game in advanced areas. Off the ball, Saifullah competes well defensively, winning a respectable number of ground duels. While he does not actively seek aerial contests, his timing and bravery mean he wins more than expected given his profile.

Areas for improvement

His shot accuracy could be refined to increase goal conversion, and there is room to further improve his effectiveness in ground duels, particularly in higher-tempo, physical matches.

Career trajectory and current form

A product of the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) academy, Saifullah made his Malaysian Super League debut in 2020. Opportunities were limited at JDT due to injuries and intense competition within a star-studded squad. In September 2024, he joined Kuching City on loan, a young club established in 2015 that earned promotion to the Super League in 2023.

The move proved pivotal. Saifullah impressed immediately, leading to a permanent transfer in June 2025. In the current season, he has been outstanding, recording 5 goals and 8 assists in just 14 matches. His performances were rewarded with his senior international debut for Malaysia in October 2025.

Transfer outlook

The Malaysian Super League is currently ranked 11th in the AFC league rankings, largely driven by JDT’s continental performances. With Saifullah’s contract expiring on 31 May 2026, the timing is right for a move to a bigger club and potentially a stronger league.

While European clubs remain cautious about recruiting from Southeast Asia, Saifullah’s technical quality, creativity, and end product suggest he could compete in a top-25 European league environment. A return to JDT or a step up within AFC may be the most realistic next move, but for clubs willing to look beyond traditional markets, he represents a compelling and undervalued profile.
