Raki Aouani • 21-year-old winger • Tunisia
Raki Aouani is a versatile attacking player who operates mainly on either wing, but can also play as an attacking midfielder or second striker. Standing 179 cm tall, he is not particularly big, but has a solid build, good body strength and excellent balance.
What immediately catches the eye is his tremendous acceleration, but his ability to maintain that pace over long distances is perhaps even more impressive. Combined with excellent dribbling, close control and progressive ball carrying at speed, he can be extremely difficult to contain once he gets moving.
His passing game is solid, while his vision and anticipation allow him to release the ball at exactly the right moment during quick attacking transitions. He can also switch play with accurate long passes, finding teammates on the opposite side and helping the team maintain attacking momentum.
Predominantly right-footed, Aouani delivers quality crosses from either flank, but is also comfortable using his left foot to similar effect. His right foot is also capable of producing powerful strikes from distance.
Starting wide on either side, he frequently drifts into the half-space and finds pockets of space just outside the penalty area. From there, he can combine with teammates, carry the ball forward or slip a pass into a dangerous area. His runs in behind the defence are another important part of his game. He often starts these runs from deeper positions and times them well, making him difficult for defenders to track.
His finishing is also good, particularly when he can open his body onto his right foot. He shows composure in front of goal and strikes the ball cleanly, adding another dimension to an already versatile attacking profile.
Areas for improvement
Given his pace, dribbling ability and movement, there is clear potential for Aouani to produce more goals and assists. His opportunities to do so have been limited this season, however, as an injury kept him out for nine matches.
There is also a more serious issue that needs addressing.
Against Ogre United on 9 August, Aouani was sent off for violent conduct after striking an opponent in the back of the head with an open hand. Even if you are provoked by an “Ogre”, this is not the kind of behaviour that can be tolerated in professional football. He needs to make sure it does not happen again.
Career trajectory and current form
Aouani developed through the academy of Tunisian giants Étoile Sportive du Sahel and made his senior debut in June 2022. Over the following seasons he established himself as one of the club’s brightest attacking talents, making 111 appearances and contributing 13 goals and 14 assists.
His performances earned him a move to Latvia, with Riga FC securing his services for a reported €270,000 in January 2026 – a very modest fee for a player with his profile and experience.
Aouani made a good start to the season before suffering an injury that kept him out for nine matches and ruled him out for most of April and May. Since returning, he has produced consistently strong performances, recording 3 goals and 2 assists in 807 minutes across 15 appearances.
He has also gained valuable European experience with Riga, starting all five of their UEFA Conference League qualifying matches so far and contributing 1 goal and 1 assist at the time of writing.
Transfer outlook
Latvia currently sits 36th in UEFA’s league coefficient rankings following several encouraging European campaigns. For Aouani, the Virsliga has provided a useful platform to adapt to European football while showcasing his pace, technical ability and versatility.
Aouani’s profile looks particularly well suited to the Norwegian Eliteserien, especially for a team playing 4-3-3. His explosive acceleration, very good pace and excellent dribbling make him a constant one-on-one threat from either wing, while his well-timed runs in behind the defence add another dimension to his attacking game.
However, there is already reported interest from abroad. Hungarian champions ETO FC from Győr have reportedly made an offer of around €700,000, according to TransferFeed, while Riga are said to be asking for approximately €1 million. Given Aouani’s qualities and the relatively low initial investment Riga made in January, that would still represent a significant return.
With Hungary currently ranked 17th in UEFA’s league coefficients, a move to ETO would represent a clear step up in league quality and could be a sensible next stage in his development.
However, as Riga broke a barrier this week and overcame KÍ Klaksvík to qualify for the UEFA Conference League league phase, staying in Latvia has suddenly become the more attractive choice. European group-stage football will give Aouani an excellent platform to showcase himself against stronger opposition and potentially increase his value considerably.
For that reason, we would not be surprised if Riga and Aouani decided to wait until the January window before making the next move. If he can stay fit, maintain his current level and, most importantly, keep his emotions under control, Aouani has the profile to take another significant step up the European football pyramid.
