Scouting Report
Mustapha Jah is a 21-year-old Gambian centre-forward standing 190 cm tall. Physically powerful but also mobile, he combines strength and pace with intelligent movement and a surprisingly complete technical skill set for a striker of his size.
Jah times his runs well in behind the defensive line, can hold up the ball effectively and is confident carrying possession himself. He is strong in aerial duels, both when competing for longer balls and when attacking crosses inside the box, while his movement and understanding of space suggest a tactically well-schooled forward.
His finishing is another clear strength. At the report date, Jah had scored 6 goals in 10 matches for Floriana, averaging one goal every 85 minutes. He shows sharp instincts inside the penalty area and can finish efficiently when chances arrive. Although right-foot dominant, the available footage also shows that his weaker foot is a reliable secondary option.
Technically, Jah looks more complete than a purely physical target striker. He can receive under pressure, protect the ball, link play and carry possession forward, giving him several ways to contribute beyond simply occupying centre-backs.
Areas for improvement
The main concern is not his basic skill set but whether his body can withstand the demands of regular senior football over time. Jah had returned from a serious knee injury and was still rebuilding rhythm and consistency. He was also not yet an established starter at Floriana despite his strong goalscoring output.
Career trajectory and current form
Nicknamed “Zlatan” in Gambia, Jah moved to CFR Cluj in Romania in the summer of 2022 and looked ready to take a significant step forward before suffering an ACL injury late in 2023. He returned to training around a year later, but left Cluj in the summer of 2025 and signed a one-year contract with Floriana FC in Malta.
His early performances in Malta showed why he remains an interesting striker. The combination of size, pace, aerial ability, movement and finishing gives him a profile that is difficult to find, while his 6 goals in 10 matches demonstrated that he could still produce efficiently after the long injury layoff.
Transfer outlook
Jah’s contract with Floriana runs until 30 June 2026, making the coming transfer windows particularly important. If he can remain fit and continue playing regularly, his physical and technical profile should attract interest from stronger leagues.
Clubs in Norway’s second tier could represent a realistic next step. For teams willing to accept the medical risk, Jah has the attributes to become a very effective No.9 and potentially a high-value signing if he can sustain his fitness and match rhythm.
