Marten-Chris Paalberg (2008)

This player profile is based on video scouting by Scout Pilgrim. A full written scouting report is not currently available.

Marten-Chris Paalberg is a 16-year-old Estonian centre-forward, soon to turn 17, with an impressive physical profile for his age. At 188 cm, he is fast, strong and powerful, and can be very difficult for defenders to handle once he gets moving.

He is a classic centre-forward who makes intelligent runs into the box and shows very good instincts around goal. His finishing is one of his biggest strengths: Paalberg can strike the ball powerfully and accurately with either foot, making him genuinely two-footed and difficult to read inside the final third.

There are some stylistic similarities to a young Erling Haaland in the combination of size, pace, direct running and the way he attacks scoring positions. The comparison is about profile and playing style rather than level.

Areas for improvement

His aerial game in duels still needs development, and he can also improve his effectiveness in ground duels. Given his age and physical development, neither is especially surprising.

His first touch and overall technical refinement are also areas where further progress would help him become a more complete centre-forward.

Paalberg already has the physical tools, movement and finishing ability to stand out as a highly interesting striker prospect. The next step is to add greater consistency in his duels and cleaner technical execution.
