Luis Sequeira (2003)

This player profile is based on video scouting by Scout Pilgrim. A full written scouting report is not currently available.

Luis Sequeira is an Argentine attacking midfielder and playmaker with exceptional ball control, creativity and technical quality. When watching him, it is difficult not to think of Diego Maradona at times. The way he carries the ball, his quick two-footed dribbles, tight control and ambitious outside-of-the-foot passes all give his game a distinctive flair.

Predominantly right-footed, Sequeira has an outstanding passing foot and can deliver difficult passes with impressive precision. He is also dangerous from free kicks and possesses a very good left foot, giving him additional options when carrying, passing or escaping pressure.

Scout Pilgrim describes him as a central player who can operate deeper as a playmaker, as a central midfielder, or further forward as a No. 10. He is capable of dictating the tempo from deeper areas, but also has the creativity and technique to influence the game closer to goal.

Defensively, he is not poor and can contribute without the ball, although his running capacity and suitability for sustained high pressing remain more open questions.

“Isn’t that Maradona?” No — but this brilliant playmaker can certainly evoke the comparison through his ball-carrying style, quick touches, control and high-difficulty passing. He stood out as our top candidate from this episode. After his loan spell with Independiente Rivadavia, he returned to Talleres.
