David Flores, 18-year-old centre-forward, Honduras

David Flores turned 18 in January 2026 and already possesses a highly intriguing physical profile for a modern striker. Standing 188 cm tall, he combines very good pace with an athletic frame and impressive strength for a player still developing physically. Though somewhat lanky at this stage, he is difficult to push off the ball and competes well against experienced defenders.

His passing game is solid, and he contributes effectively in link-up situations by dropping deeper to combine with midfielders before attacking space again. His finishing is versatile and reliable, capable of scoring with either foot as well as with his head. Aerially, he already shows promising qualities, while his work rate and high-pressing ability add value without the ball.

What truly stands out, however, is his movement. Flores shows excellent timing in his runs behind the defensive line and consistently attacks dangerous spaces inside the penalty area. Combined with his pace, this makes him a difficult striker to track and potentially gives him a strong upside as a goal scorer even on higher levels.

Areas for improvement

As expected for such a young player, his tactical understanding still requires refinement. In rushed situations he can occasionally lose composure, leading to awkward finishes or mistimed contacts with the ball. His aerial timing also needs development. At times he attacks crosses too early, forcing him to adjust mid-air and reducing the quality of his contact.

Career trajectory and current form

Flores joined Honduran giants Club Deportivo Olimpia in June 2023. Olimpia are not only Honduras’ most successful club domestically, but arguably the biggest club in Central America in terms of history and continental pedigree.

Following an impressive U17 World Cup campaign with Honduras in late 2025, where he recorded 1 goal and 1 assist in 3 matches, Flores earned his senior debut for Olimpia shortly after turning 18. He has already contributed 3 goals in 11 appearances during 2026, enough to place him firmly among our “bubble players”, meaning talents we believe are on the verge of a major breakthrough over the next season.

Transfer outlook

Playing for the region’s biggest club means Flores is under no immediate pressure to move. Honduras remains one of the stronger footballing nations in CONCACAF outside Mexico and the United States, providing a solid platform for development.

With ambitions of eventually playing in Europe, a gradual pathway may be ideal. The Baltic leagues could represent a smart intermediate step, particularly given the recent success of young Central American forwards such as Panama’s Josué Vergara in Latvia’s Virslīga.

Profile-wise, Flores also appears well suited to Nordic football, though a transitional move through the Baltics could help prepare him physically and tactically for higher-level European competition.
